The Radisson Hotel Group is a pioneer in sustainability, having implemented an environmental policy as early as 1989. Today, they operate an extensive ESG program called “Responsible Business.” This initiative has three pillars; People, Community and Planet, and aims to conduct business ethically to be a thriving, sustainable and responsible business. With over 1,490 hotels in more than 100 countries, their positive impact is substantial. Currently, 226 hotels have achieved eco-certifications or verifications, with many more in progress.

Previously, they relied on a cumbersome manual survey consisting of 155 questions to gather information from their properties. This data is thereafter analyzed before being formatted into various reports for internal and external stakeholders.
This method presented several challenges. Hotels lacked visibility into their previously submitted responses, resulting in repetitive answers to similar questions. Furthermore, the manual processes for aggregating data, formatting responses, and reporting created inefficiencies and increased the potential risk for errors. Consequently, the Group explored ways to improve sustainability data collection across its properties, including mapping of various sustainability reporting frameworks.
Streamlining data collection
Despite being progressive in their sustainability initiatives, the Radisson Hotel Group operates with a relatively small team responsible for implementing strategies such as the commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. One significant challenge was the complexity of gathering data across various hotel departments.
With the support of BeCause, this process has been streamlined, enabling more efficient data collection, and reducing the burden on individual team members. This improvement has led to enhanced data quality, which is critical for accurate sustainability reporting.
